How we explored the subject
Context
when? where? who? why?
When it comes to new semester, students are in a hurry to find a new house. After comparing prices on different platforms, they finally get a satified house but unfortunately it is a fake house information and the landlord is very rude.
After you move into your new house, you find you eat pizza every day and still have nothing in your wallet.
Our platform is here to care about your new life.
WHY?
Students when moving out always come across many problems:
BEFORE MOVING OUT
- cannot find a proper apartment according to their demand and budget
- fall into the victim of scams (fraud, fake house conditions, no compliance to the promise etc.)
- not being ready – you may find you are not ready to handle all the responsibilities
- money worries – the cost of living independently may surprise you, especially if you are used to your parents providing for everything. Debt may become an issue
DURING MOVING OUT
- package and deliver problems
- Bad weather & traffic
- Exorbitant price of moving out service
- lack of decoration and necessary equipments
AFTER MOVING OUT and MOVING IN
- flatmate problems – issues such as paying bills on time, sharing housework equally, friends who never pay board, but stay anyway, and lifestyle incompatibilities (such as a non-drug-user flatting with a drug user) may result in hostilities and arguments.
- Worried parents
- cannot cook delicious and healthy food
Target
for whom?
The target is students that are moving out but have neither time nor desire to scroll through every agency to find a flat that is worth it or that don't know the city they are moving to and therefore want help to live their new life.
We also aim students that are not really autonomous yet because they have never experienced moving out, and want to feel surrounded and helped. One clear target is the 'Tanguy', it means young adults that find it hard to move out from their parents' house. Thanks to our app, they will find all the help they need in every aspects of their life.
Service offered
what? how?
This app provides all-round from before, during and after the moving out.
First examine the house if it is authentic and then guaranteed by our team. Then we share these house info to the students based on their demands. (Flatsharing or living alone). After the students choose their house and sign the contract.Students could pay monthly rent and house insurance on our platform.
During moving out, our platform will provide a moving out plan based on weather and traffic. We will provide moving out help service with partnership of some moving out companies who will also be responsibility for the inventory stock.
After moving out which means that you move in your new house, our platform still care about your new life full of problems. We help you in communication with flatmate, house landlord and guardian, payment separately shared miscellaneous fees to us, specified budget planning, cleaning service every two weeks, emergency call & emergency contact, recipe & delivery of food
Identity
describe the universe around your service by creating a mood board and name your service accordingly
Benchmark
List concurrents / relative projects and describe how they relate/differentiate to your project
- Pinql : This is the Tinder of the house rental ! This app helps to find the right match between the owner and the tenant, with a similar functioning as dating apps. This is an idea that we could take, because it grabs the attention and therefore would add a value to our app.
- Homengo : This app gives as many informations as possible about the real property and the neighbourhood -means of transport, school...- in which it is located, in order to help the tenant to find the right house/flat.This is exactly what we would like to offer to students, but with other informations, like the near presence of libraries, nightclubs, bars...
- Splitwise, 'a free tool for friends and roommates to track bills and other shared expenses, so that everyone gets paid back.' : Thanks to this app, roommates can handle their budget and keep their accounts. Money can often be a source of conflict.
- Trello: The goal is to organise the community life of the flatshare, or your own life, thanks to checklists and schedules. The plus of this app is that she offers a lot of different ways to create your checklists, in order to find the one that suits you. It would be a good idea to have one tab proposing checklists or agendas in our app, but maybe without so many options, or there will be too many informations.
- IOU: This app aims to manage debts between friends. This app is useful for students that live in a flatshare. We would like to insert a similar debt planner to our app.

The user test
Positive feedback
House investigation and gurantee really helps.
The design of the app is great.
Putting all the ingredients into the shopping list by clicking a button is very simple and fast. It is useful for a beginner cook.
Negative feedback
The first overview and some features are not very clear. Maybe add a page where everyparts is described so that we can have a comprehensive overview of the app.
The font size on some page is too small and some areas are hidden by the characteristics of the screen of IPhone X.
The financial part is too simple and seems unfinished.
